I firmly believe in fostering children and adoption. My father grew up living with another family from the time he was thirteen years old. My husband was adopted and we have adopted two girls. It is perhaps the happiest legal work that I can do to help form families through adoption. Please note, however, that adoptions are “uncontested” only if the rights of both biological parents have been voluntarily relinquished. Otherwise, the biological father and/or mother must have notice and have their parental rights terminated before the child can be adopted.

Just because the biological father has not been involved in the child’s life, does not mean that you can agree to the adoption without him having notice and either relinquishing his parental rights or having those rights terminated.
