I am Kathy van Zutphen. Like you, I wear many different “hats” in my life every day. In reality, our “hats” are more like helmets. Kennedy, the word “crisis” in Chinese has two characters. One character represents danger and the other represents an opportunity. We work to bring forth the best outcome, or opportunity, from your crisis. We also work with you like a compass to help you chart a course or plan for your future to prevent a later crisis. Whatever your current situation, we promise to be accessible when you need us. We are compassionate, and give you straight-forward guidance to find your way out of the storm.
I received my license to practice law in Alabama in 1997, in Mississippi in 1999, and in Louisiana in 2008. I have had twenty years of diverse experience to call upon to solve your legal issues. I am an Attorney, Entrepreneur, Spouse, Parent, Caregiver, Owner of Pets, Landlord, Investor, Writer, Speaker, Sports Fan, and Member of a Non-Profit Board. In my personal life, I have started businesses, adopted children, cared for aging family members, and handled litigation. I graduated from the University of Alabama in 1983, magna cum laude, and then received a Master of Arts. I went to law school at the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University in Birmingham, AL. I received my Juris Doctorate degree in 1997. I have experience in corporate and insurance defense litigation, general civil litigation. I specialize in, Probate, Estates, and the legal area called “Elder Law.”
